Our teacup Himalayan kitten, Marie, has finally fully recovered from hernia repair surgery, so it was time for some basic training. Marie is quite sharp, picking up the commands within a couple of training sessions. Here, she “comes here,” “sits,” “shakes right/left hand,” and “gluteus” for treats and petting rewards. Training and older cat to use the litter box (and not pee on the walls)?

My boyfriend’s mother has an older cat that I would love to adopt. However, his main problem is that he uses the litter box "half hazardly": peeing on the walls to mark his territory, kicking litter out of the box, etc. There are a few other cats in the house and it has been suggested that this is a territorial thing. Is it possible to train him out of this? He’s around 4-5 years.

Kitten is a low drive pup. You can tell in this clip and in the clip of her “bed trick”. Although low drive, she is very easy to train and smart! She is like a Border Collie with “Training Wheels”!! She would be ideal for someone who has not ever owned a Border Collie OR even a dog for that matter. She is gentle with kids and gives soft, sweet kisses. An Ideal home would be with a person/family who wanted to learn about clicker training. Kitten gives you time to think about what you are doing. You can see in the clip,she was sometimes bowing and sometimes laying down. I did click and reward her for the playbow also. The two behaviors can be isolated later in training. My Aunt has a kitty that lives with us, and he never got litter trained. There are 4 other cats, three are trained and one is learning. But this one cat continues to leave presents by the door. I want to train him, so he can become a house cat.
